Govt decides to maintain wheat price at Rs 1,300 for 40 Kg bag

By the grace of Almighty Allah, there has been a bumper wheat crop this year, said Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif while addressing a high level meeting on Tuesday which reviewed various proposals with regard to wheat procurement campaign for the year 2015-16.

Addressing the meeting, the chief minister said that wheat procurement campaign will be launched by the end of April in Punjab and gunny bags will be distributed among the cultivators in accordance with the settled policy. He said that the system of distribution of gunny bags will be just and highly transparent and gunny bags will be issued on the basis of ‘first come, first serve’. He further said that middleman and ‘Arhtis’ will not be allowed to get involved in the wheat procurement campaign and exploit cultivators.

The chief minister said that all necessary facilities will be provided to cultivators at the procurement centres. He said that complaint cells will be established at provincial, divisional, district and tehsil levels and the complaints of the cultivators will be addressed immediately.
