Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah has directed the chief secretary to take necessary measures to recover 153 government vehicles illegally allotted to un-authorised influential persons.
The CM issued these directives Wednesday while taking notice of different issues which came into his knowledge through national press.
The chief minister took notice of 83 government vehicles allotted to former cabinet members, retired federal government officials, MPAs and such other influential persons just to oblige them. It also came into the notice of the chief minister that 70 other government vehicles were untraceable and reportedly allotted to blue-eyed boys; therefore, their record was not maintained.
The chief minister in his directives has asked the secretary general administration (GA) “What are you doing? How could 153 vehicles be used illegally? What action have you taken so far?”
The chief minister has directed Chief Secretary Siddiq Memon to report him on the matter.
He directed all the commissioners and deputy commissioners to ensure judicious distribution of gunny bags to farmers for the newly-launched wheat procurement drive by the provincial food department.
The chief minister taking notice of a report that the gunny bags were being issued only to those farmers who grease the palms of food department officials, directed all the concerned deputy commissioners to personally monitor issuance of gunny bags.
He directed the commissioners and deputy commissioners to “ensure that the farmers must get gunny bags without corruption.”
Qaim Ali Shah taking serious view of the releasing contaminated water into the left bank canal system of Kotri Barrage directed the secretary irrigation to ensure provision of clean water into the system.
There was a report that untreated industrial effluent was released into Phuleli Canal at different locations. Therefore, the water flowing into the system turns poisonous. The same water is used for drinking purpose by the people of Tando Mohammad Khan, Badin and Thatta.
The chief minister has directed the irrigation department to coordinate with the Environment department and take legal action against the industrial units involved in releasing untreated effluent into the left bank canal system and report him within two days.
