NAB has sought an explanation from the assistant commissioner and the Islamabad tehsildar as to why a plot owned by Interior Secretary Major (R) Chaudhry Qamar Zaman, was registered for Rs10 million instead of its original price of Rs40 million.

The interior secretary acquired a plot from the Police Foundation in the name of Shuhada and sold it out at the cost of Rs40 million. On the other hand, the interior secretary showed the sale price of the plot as  Rs 10 million during the process of registry of the plot for evasion of tax.

NAB has summoned assistant commissioner and tehsildar Islamabad to probe into why they approved the registry at a lower cost. The commissioner and Deputy Commissioner Islamabad have also been directed to explain the matter.

The interior secretary, when contacted for his viewpoint on this matter, refused to attend the call.

NAB sources have made it clear that the plot scandal will be brought to its logical end at every cost.

Reference is also being worked out against interior secretary on the charges of misuse of powers because he has refused to explain  his position to NAB.
