Progress of federal development projects has been marred by slow disbursement of funds as only Rs 249 billion have so far been disbursed for these projects in the first eight months.
According to the official statistics, Rs 525 billion were allotted for the federal development projects for financial year of 2014-15. However, only Rs 249.91 billion have so far been disbursed during the first 10 months. This makes only 47 per cent of the total development budget.
Statistics show that Rs 34 billion have been disbursed for Pakistan Atomic Energy Commission while the National Highway Authority (NHA) was given Rs 34 billion. Approximately Rs 26.94 billion were disbursed for National Health Services, Rs 26.96 billion for Pakistan Railways, Rs 25 billion for water-related projects while Rs 25 billion were disbursed for electricity projects. Rs 1.5 billion have so far been disbursed for education related projects.
