- Plea seeking amendment in court’s order in defamation case against PTI chief admitted for hearing
The court of District and Sessions Judge Muhammad Tanvir Mir has admitted for hearing petition filed by Dr Babar Awan seeking amendment in court’s March, 14 order in defamation case filed by former chief justice of Pakistan (CJP) Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry against Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan.
The court while accepting the plea of Babar Awan adjourned the hearing of the case till today (Tuesday).
Sheikh Ahsan ud Din advocate and Tausif Asif advocate appeared in the court on behalf of former CJP Iftikhar Chaudhry and Shah Khawar Bokhari advocate and Ghulam Farooq advocate represented Imran Khan during the course of hearing of the case.
The petition with regard to objections raised on power of attorney of Dr Babar Awan could not come up for arguments due to non presence of Babar Awan. However court accepted Dr Babar Awan plea seeking amendment in court’s March, 14 orders.
It may be recalled that no mention was made about the attendance of Babar Awan advocate and his stance in court’s March, 14 orders. Therefore, Dr Babar Awan had filed petition under section 152 of civil procedure seeking amendment in court’s orders.
Talking to media men outside the court Sheikh Ahsanuddin advocate said, “It is becoming incomprehensible as to why Dr Babar Awan does not come to the court. Who have talked of dislodging our wickets through Yorker have lost match. Those making tall claims are shirking from facing the courts why.”
Shah Khawar Bokhari advocate said, “Our triumphs have started and acceptance of our plea by the court is our first victory. This is the case of first of its kind in the history of Pakistan that some lawyer is being restrained from contesting the case.”
