The Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) has filed a petition in the Sindh High Court (SHC) to declare vacant the seats of the members of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) who had resigned from their assembly membership.

According to details, the petition submitted by MQM leader Shahid Sheikh stated that it is unconstitutional not to accept the resignations of four members of PTI as they have not come to the assembly after tendering their resignation.

Moreover, it also stated that the speaker Sindh Assembly and Election Commission (EC) were breaching the constitution by not doing so therefore by-election should be conducted by vacating the seats of PTI members. The petitioner also requested the court to direct the speaker Sindh Assembly to accept the resignations.

The resigned PTI members include Syed Hafeezuddin, Khurram Sher Zaman, Samar Ali Khan and Seema Zia.

The MQM filed another petition against PTI Chief Imran Khan and Member of National Assembly (MNA) Arif Alvi in Sindh High Court about their alleged telephonic conversation regarding PTV attack.

The petitioner Faiz-ul-Hassan stated that the post-PTV attack talk of both leaders is against the constitution and pleaded to annul the membership of Arif Alvi. He further demanded to initiate action against Imran Khan as per law.

In the audio tape, Alvi tells Khan that the party workers have entered Pakistan Television (PTV). However, Khan instructs Alvi to maintain pressure on the government in order to get Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif to resign and dissolve the assembly.
