Chief of Army Staff General Raheel Sharif said on Saturday that besides performing its role as the custodian of national frontiers, the army has always been a forerunner in terms of its contribution to national development.
According to an Inter-Services Public Relations statement, the army chief was addressing the 3rd Convocation of CMH Lahore Medical College on Saturday.
Gen Raheel said that the entrenched role of Army Medical Corps in the forefronts of serious disasters, calamities and military operations against evil of terrorism and extremism has been highly impressive.
He stated that physical, mental and social health is a prelude to a strong nation and provision of professional health services to the common man must be everyone’s priority.
General Raheel said extensive and continuous research is our national need, without which no institution can achieve excellence.
He emphasised the need to have greater faith in the young generation as the future belongs to them.
“We are tackling the menace of terrorism head on and will go anywhere in the country to eliminate it in totality,” he said.
The COAS later awarded degrees and medals to the passing out students.
