Protest against Amplifier Act Ghanta Ghar Chowk, traders resist forceful shutdown

The workers of Sunni Ittehad Council protested against arrest of party workers and clerics under the Amplifier Act on Tuesday and tried to forcefully shutdown shops in eight bazaars around Ghanta Ghar Chowk.

Situation turned violent when traders fought back and resisted forceful shutdown.

Protestors vandalised several shops whereas some shop owners used knives to keep the protestors at bay.

It may be mentioned here that more than two thousand people were arrested for misuse of loudspeakers during a recent crackdown across the country as part of the National Action Plan.
