Death row inmate hanged in Multan

The Multan Central Jail authorities on Tuesday early morning executed a murder convict.

As per reports, Nasrullah was awarded death sentence for killing a man to avenge his brother’s murder in 1994.

The murder convict, whose mercy pleas were rejected in different courts, was sent to gallows this morning, the officials said.

Meanwhile, the Lahore High Court (LHC) on Tuesday rejected a plea urging to stop the implementation of juveniles’ death punishments.

Justice Mahmood Maqbool Bajwa of LHC was hearing the petition. Petitioner’s counsel Ishtiaq Chaudhry maintained that the law does not allow punishing juveniles by death whereas the government is continuing the practice.

The court told the petitioner’s counsel that LHC cannot pass orders to the president of Pakistan. Justice Bajwa advised Chaudhry to make the Law and Justice Division a party in the case and then submit an amended plea.
