The Supreme Court (SC) has sought a reply from chair CDA within three weeks on a petition filed by a citizen Anwar Butt against the construction of a powerhouse in F-9 Park.
Justice Mian Saqib Nisar has remarked, “People go to the park for entertainment, they shouldn’t have to worry about being electrocuted. Why is a powerhouse being built in a public park? How can it happen, when such a thing can cause harm to people?”
Sheikh Azmat Saeed has remarked, “The chairman CDA could not find some other place for the construction of power house. If he is so keen then why he does he not build the power house in his house?”
A three-member bench of SC presided over by Justice Saqib Nisar took up the petition for hearing on Tuesday.
The petitioner took the plea that such activities cannot be allowed in public parks in the light of SC’s decision. New encroachments are being set up in F-9 Park every day and this park, which was built for recreational purpose of people, is now shrinking. Therefore, action be taken against chair CDA and other authorities, he prayed.
The court while summoning a reply from chair CDA and other officials adjourned the hearing of case for three weeks.
