Prades refresh nation’s patriotism on Pakistan Day

Pakistan Day was celebrated with traditional zeal and enthusiasm, and the pledge to make the country peaceful, prosperous and self-reliant.

The day dawned with 21-gun salutes in the provincial capital, special prayers were offered in mosques after Fajr prayer for the integrity and solidarity of the country.

A change of guard ceremony was held at the tomb of national poet Allama Muhammad Iqbal where a contingent of the Pakistan Air Force assumed the guard duties, followed by a wreath laying by various political, cultural and educational organisations.

The City District Government Lahore (CDGL) arranged a mega event “Azam-e-Pakistan Parade” to mark the Pakistan Day with traditional zeal.

The aim of the parade was to convey a message that the entire nation was united and committed to eradicate terrorism from the country.

The parade kicked off from Liberty roundabout and ended at the same place after passing through Main Market Gulberg.

The March 23 float marched in the parade paid glowing tribute to Quaid-i-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, Dr Allama Iqbal, Mader-e Millat Mohtarma Fatima Jinnah and to the forefathers who made untiring efforts for the creation of Pakistan.

Police contingent also marched and paid tribute to the martyrs of police.

About 42 marching bands, including Badshah Brass band, Jahangir band, participated in the event, city traffic police big bikers squad, students from different schools carrying Pakistan’s biggest flag, vintage cars and heavy bikes squads, Rescue 1122 float, Sindh float depicting culture of Sindh, PHA float, float of different educational institutes, puppets by Rafi Peer group, National Hockey team, Women Hockey team were part of the parade.

A large number of people of different age groups witnessed the parade and enjoyed the performances of different artists.

Foolproof security arrangements were made to ensure security of people and avoid any untoward incident.

Various political, social, religious and literary organisations have arranged functions to highlight importance of the Pakistan Resolution that paved the way for the creation of an independent homeland for the Muslims of the Sub-continent.
