Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan on Tuesday issued a statement in which he warned his party members against revealing internal affairs of the PTI in the general public. In another development, Khan has appointed Tasnim Noorani as the party’s chief election commissioner.
Khan’s public warning to party members was criticised in the social media which said that the statement reflected the “dictator” inside the PTI chairman. Some commentators said that the warning was a blatant restriction on freedom of speech.
Meanwhile, Tasnim Noorani will be meeting Imran Khan within the next few days to discuss the nominations of other members of the PTI’s Election Commission.
The PTI chairman thanked the election tribunal especially Justice (r) Wajiuddin and Yusuf Gabol for their painstaking work on the intra party election petitions, the statement said.
The CEC, after completion of the electoral rolls and election procedure, will inform the chairman as to the appropriate time for the conduct of the next intra-party elections, it said.
