Four alleged target killers ‘belonging to political party’ arrested in Karachi

The police has claimed to have arrested four members of a political party suspected to be involved in cases of target killings of political rivals, along with other crimes.

Saddar division SP Raeed Abdul Ghani during a press conference held at the Preedy police station on Sunday disclosed that the arrests were made during snap checking in the area.

He said the suspects claimed to be members of a party, and have been involved in at least five cases of murders of rival parties – Sunni Tehreek, Punjabi Pakhtun Ittehad and Awami National Party.

The rounded suspects were identified as Shahzad, Shakeel, Abdul Hameed and Farooq. Weapons were also recovered from their possession.

Ghani added that the suspects revealed that weapons recovered were provided to them by their party’s unit in-charge to help them in target killings, extortion and to be used during strikes in the city.

Meanwhile, Rangers claimed to apprehend 22 suspects during targeted raids in different parts of the city, including Soldier Bazaar, Agra Taj Colony, Bihar Colony, Liaquatabad, Northern Bypass, Pirabad and Shah Faisal.

The Rangers spokesperson said target killers, Lyari gangsters and terrorists of banned outfits were among the arrested criminals, while weapons and jihadi literature were also found from their possession.
