The ‘We Are Pakistan Tourism’ venture conducts guided bus tours all across the city of Lahore, exploring sites such as the Wazir Khan Mosque, Akbari Mandi etc and offering a taste of authentic Lahori cuisine in the fabled Food Street.
The venture has named the tour “Disco Laari Project”.
Founded by Taimoor Ehtisham, Faisal Naeem and Asser Malik, the project was developed to provide an informative account of the history of the country.
“I felt there was a dire need for Pakistanis to get out and see the enormous historical value it has,” said Malik, one of the founders.
“Our tour gives everyone a chance to experience Pakistan in its bones and be proud of it,” he added.
With the help of the Punjab government, the Disco Laari provides well-informed and charismatic tour guides to 40 guests via its weekly service. Many have returned to take the tour again, which lasts approximately four hours.
“I’ve lived in Lahore my whole life but I’ve never seen places like the Shahi Hammam or Bagh-e-Ali,” said Ramish Hazir, a medical student. “Disco Laari has made these sights so accessible,” he added.
Recent visits have included Lahori staples like the Delhi Gate, Sonehri Mosque, Haveli Alif Shah, Waan Bazaar, Badshahi Mosque among several others, as part of the Disco Laari’s ‘Royal Trail Tour.’ The tour concludes with ‘Tawa Chicken’ from one of the oldest restaurants in Food Street. Disco Laari aims to expand the route, venturing into the mystical shrines existing throughout the city and beyond.
“Pakistanis are sapped by the negativity bombarded at them. They need to see another side, and they want to see another side of the country,” Malik added.
How can I get more info on this?
thanks
