- Punjab CM distributes 50,000 vehicles among unemployed youths
- Pats self on the back for ensuring merit in employment schemes
Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif on Saturday formally inaugurated Pakistan’s biggest “Apna Rozgar Scheme” for providing respectable jobs to the youth of the province.
Addressing the ceremony, Sharif congratulated those who were able to secure the vehicles under Apna Rozgar Scheme and said that distribution of 50,000 vehicles has been started on merit in a very transparent manner.
He said that three years ago, the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) government had distributed 20,000 vehicles among youth worth Rs. 10 billion on merit and its recovery rate is 99.99 per cent. Undoubtedly, the previous scheme remained successful and the existing scheme has also received encouraging response, he added.
The chief minister said that under the previous scheme, Bolan and Mehran vehicles were given while under the existing scheme, commercial vehicles “Ravi” and “Bolan” are being distributed.
He said that Apna Rozgar scheme will play an important role in the speedy development of the province which will not only result in generation of millions of new jobs but the target of economic development would also be achieved. He said that under this scheme, not only 50,000 individuals but 50,000 families will earn a respectable livelihood.
He said that overall more than 300,000 people will directly benefit from this scheme whereas millions of families will be benefitted economically indirectly. He said that this scheme has a number of economic fruits and will prove helpful in the progress of the province. Sharif said that like the previous schemes of the Punjab government, transparency and merit has been upheld in Apna Rozgar scheme.
The chief minister said that those obtaining vehicles will pay monthly installments on soft terms which will be Rs 10,000 for Bolan and Rs 9,000 for Ravi.
He said that those included in the list of receiving vehicles through transparent balloting will not have to pay even a single penny under the head of service charges rather Punjab government will bear all service charges.
He said that government had fixed the price of vehicles at Rs 40,000 less than market, however, due to increase in price with the passage of time, lucky persons have benefited up to Rs 90,000.
