A new Joint Investigation Team (JIT) has been formed to probe the Kot Radha Kishan incident in which a Christian couple was burnt to death November last year. The old JIT had been dissolved. Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Akhtar Umar Hayat Lalika will head the new JIT.
The report submitted before the Supreme Court stated that Punjab inspector general (IG) has formed a new JIT to investigate the incident. As many as 25 more suspects have been arrested for investigation by the new team. Witnesses appeared before the court and got their statements recorded before the magistrate. The witnesses have also been provided security.
The report says that the investigative team has gathered all the evidence. The tractor trolley used for gathering people and the loudspeaker used for the announcement have also been taken into custody, according to the report.
