Six bank dacoits arrested

The Crime Investigation Agency (CIA) of Islamabad police has busted a gang involved in bank robberies and snatching cash from bank account holders, a police spokesman said.

He said that IGP Islamabad Tahir Alam Khan and SSP Mir Vais Niaz constituted special team under supervision of SP (Investigation) Muhammad Ilyas to arrest those involved in bank robberies and other criminal incidents. A special team headed by DSP CIA Bashir Ahmed Noon was constituted including Sub-Inspector Tariq Rauf, ASI Haider Ali Shah and others, which succeeded to arrest six gangsters from Ghori town involved in bank dacoities.

The gangsters have been identified as Umer Zaman, Yaseen, Chaman Khan, Shaif, Menabaz, Rehmat Shah and police also recovered five 30 bore pistols, ammunition and a motorbike form their possession.

During the preliminary investigation, they have confessed to robbing Al-Falah Bank, DHA Phase-11, GT Road Rewat on February 10, 2015, after making hostages out of the security guard and bank staff. They took away Rs. 3.2 million from this bank and a case was registered about the incident at Sihala police station.

On January 20, 2015, they snatched cash from Shabbir Ahmed after he had withdrawn money from MCB at I-10 Markaz. They also committed a robbery at Faisal Cloth House in I-10 Markaz.

Similarly, they snatched cash from Javed Khan on February 4, 2015, when he was on his way home after withdrawing Rs. 1,53,000 from Bank Al-Falah at I-10 Markaz.

In addition, CIA Police have also arrested 11 other outlaws involved in crime cases of heinous nature during the current month.
