Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Sardar Raza Khan Thursday rejected former senator Abbas Khan Afridi’s petition seeking adjournment of Senate elections in Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA).
During the petition’s hearing, the CEC reprimanded the petitioner’s counsel, saying that the government and ministers have made a “mockery” of FATA elections.
“After as many as 13 years, the petitioner is saying that the presidential ordinance is unconstitutional. The petition does not even declare a second party,” he said, ordering the counsel to advise his client to declare a second party and then hearing would be held in next week.
