The Kohsar Police have booked four persons including a former acting president of the Islamabad Chamber of Commerce for allegedly manhandling the CDA staff during an anti-encroachment drive.

Khalid Chaudhry, his son Zia Khalid, and two other persons had allegedly manhandled the CDA’s anti-encroachment directorate staff during an anti-encroachment drive at F-6 Farooqia Market.

On the directives of the Supreme Court, the CDA has been carrying out an anti-encroachment campaign in the federal capital for the last few days.

When the CDA staff started removing encroachments from a park near the Farooqia Market, the traders of the market led by Chaudhry and his son attacked the CDA staff, gave them a drubbing, and got the confiscated items offloaded from the CDA truck.

After the incident, the CDA moved the police station to lodge a case against the alleged attackers.

Sources said that the traders of the Farooqia Market also attempted to influence the police against registering the FIR, but the police did not buckle.
