Rangers on Thursday claimed to have arrested a key suspect involved in Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Zahra Shahid Hussain’s murder.
Acting on a tip-off, Rangers personnel conducted a targeted operation in the surrounding areas of Teen Talwar in Clifton and arrested suspect, Kaleem, who was also said to be wanted in several cases of murder, said a spokesperson from the paramilitary force. The Rangers spokesman said that weapons were also seized from the suspect’s possession. The suspect is being interrogated further.
Hussain was shot dead outside her house in Defence Housing Authority on May 17, 2013, on the eve of re-polling in the NA-250 constituency. The killing sparked a wave of political tension as the PTI accused the Muttahida Qaumi Movement for the murder.
