The Sindh High Court (SHC) on Monday issued notices to the Sindh Inspector General, Sindh Rangers director general and the Sindh interior minister on a petition asking that arrested MQM workers be presented in court.
MQM petition has maintained in the petition that the Rangers had arrested 110 persons during their raids at the MQM headquarters i.e. Nine-Zero. However, the paramilitary force has failed to produce 24 of their workers, which is a clear violation of their fundamental rights.
The petitioner said that the 24 workers should be produced in court immediately and their medical check-up should be conducted, besides allowing them to meet their family members.
The paramilitary force had picked up the suspects from Nine-Zero and surrounding areas in a first of its kind raid on the MQM headquarters.
The SHC while issuing notices to the respondents adjourned the hearing until March 24, 2015.
