The Election Commission of Pakistan on Monday issued a notification that elections will be held for four vacant seats in the Senate, from the Federally Administered Tribal Areas on March 20, 2015.
This notification has been issued after partial modification in an earlier notification issued on March 6, 2015, regarding elections on FATA seats, and in pursuance of the section 10 of the Senate Election Act 1975 read with clause (3) of article 59 and clause (3) of article 224 of the constitution and the State and Frontier Regions Division notification dated July 7, 1975.
The Election Commission has called upon members of the National Assembly from FATA to elect four members for the Senate against general seats, in place of the Senators who had retired from the Upper House on March 11, 2015 after completing their six-year tenure in the Senate.
The polling for election of four Senators from FATA shall be held in the Parliament House on March 20, 2015 from 0900 hours to 1600 hours.
