Rain pours down hard across country

Five reported dead in accidents as rain lashes Islamabad, Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Balochistan

Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Lahore, Faisalabad, Sargodha, DG Khan, Multan, Malaknd and Hazara divisions received heavy rains Sunday, which also resulted in five casualties in separate incidents across country.

According to Met Office, a western disturbance is affecting upper and central parts of the country and likely to persist during next 24 to 36 hours. Rain is also likely in Quetta, Kalat, and Zhob divisions, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan.

Skardu remained in grip of severe cold wave after a snowfall and rain on Sunday the mountains in Skardu, Ghanger districts are covered with snowfall.

Snowfall on the upper mountainous areas including Neelum, Keel, Gareez, Lipa and Kahota turned weather chilly.

ARMY SUMMONED IN BALOCHISTAN:

In the meanwhile, Balochistan government has summoned Pakistan army to help in relief work following heavy rains over the past two days that have led to floods in Bolan, Harnai and Sibbi areas.

According to reports, five highways have been washed away in Harnai district by the flood waters and the area has been cut off from rest of the province. The reports said that army through its different teams have started the rescue operations to take out the people from flooded areas and provide them with food and shelter.

THREE KILLED IN ROOF COLLAPSE:

In a rain-related incident in Multan, three members of a family were killed in a roof collapse on Sunday.

According to rescue sources, roof of a dilapidated house caved due to heavy rain. As a result, four people including two children were buried under the debris.

Locals and rescue teams recovered them from the debris and shifted to Nishtar Hospital where Rehan, 19, eight-month-old Ahmad and three-month-old Zeenab died. The fourth injured, Saleemullah, 21, is under treatment.

Rescue sources said that more than 300 people are living in dilapidated houses and they have not been shifted to safer places. They feared that some major tragedy cold take place any time if the rains continued.

TWO KILLED IN LIGHTENING:

Moreover in Zohb, two people were killed by lightening on Sunday.

According to Levies sources, the lightning struck a house in Zarozai village in Zhob district killing a woman and her two-year-old son. Rescue teams reached the spot and shifted the dead to hospital.
