Interior Ministry official says convicts were brought to Pakistan under agreements and released illegally
Minister for Interior and Narcotics Control Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan has ordered stoppage of implementation on the agreements with other countries for exchange of convicted criminals.
An official of Interior Ministry in a statement on Sunday said it was revealed in the investigations conducted on the orders of the interior minister that in the last many years Pakistanis involved in dangerous crimes abroad were brought to Pakistan under these agreements.
Then in connivance with the officers of Interior Ministry and provincial governments these convicts were released illegally. Before formulating any transparent policy, the interior minister has stopped the Interior Ministry and FIA from implementing the agreements.
The minister ordered that the enquiry regarding the convicts released in the last several years should be completed in a week and strict action should be taken against all those persons involved in the illegal activity and they should be arrested.
No relaxation should be given to the officers and persons who maligned the name of Pakistan, the minister said.
