Selfless service of the masses is a mission of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) government which is being accomplished efficiently, said Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif while presiding over a high level meeting on Saturday in which progress on public welfare programmes and ongoing development projects was reviewed in detail. National and provincial assembly members attended the meeting.
He said that the government is ensuring completion of public welfare projects speedily and transparently in the province. He said that work on the development projects costing billions of rupees is continuing throughout the province for providing relief to the people.
The chief minister said that the journey of serving the people will continue with new spirit and hard work. He said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, country and the nation will be brought out of problems and put on the road to progress and prosperity.
He said that a mega project has been started for providing clean drinking water to the people of the province. He said that in the first phase, more than 300 water filtration plants are being installed in four cities, adding that the target has been fixed for providing potable water to most of the cities of Punjab by 2017.
The chief minister said that billions of rupees have been allocated for the repair and construction of roads in rural areas under Khadim-e-Punjab Green Roads Programme. He said that rural economy will progress speedily and new job opportunities will be created through implementation of the programme. He said that modern metro bus project has proved an important milestone in infrastructural development.
He said that more than 150,000 people are travelling through metro buses daily in Lahore. He said that metro bus project has changed the old transport system. He said that metro bus service is playing an important role in providing speedy, economical and comfortable travelling facility to the citizens. He said that Rawalpindi-Islamabad metro bus project is in the final stages of completion which will soon be inaugurated.
Expressing their views on the occasion, the assembly members said that the chief minister is serving the masses round the clock. They said that development projects have been completed transparently and expeditiously in the province.
Provincial Minister for Education Rana Mashhood Ahmad, National and provincial assembly members Pervaiz Malik, Hamza Shahbaz, Daniyal Aziz, Sardar Ashiq Hussain Gopang, Sajid Mehdi, Rana Sanaullah, Manshaullah Butt, former MNA Saood Majeed, former MPA Samiullah and others attended the meeting.
