The Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) on Friday decided to send the audio and video tapes of the Model Town massacre to the European Union (EU) and the Human Rights Organisation (HRO).
The decision to write and send evidences to EU and HRO was taken during a joint meeting of PAT leadership and their legal team chaired by PAT Chairman Dr Tahirul Qadri via video link from Canada at the Model Town Central Secretariat.
During the meeting, participants deliberated on the ways to increase pressure on the government to impart speedy justice to the victims of Model Town incident.
The participants decided to increase contacts with and launch appeals to journalists and human rights organisations to increase their role to ensure the provision of justice to affected families.
Lauding the Chief Army Staff General Raheel Sharif’s recent statement, wherein he had reiterated that war against terrorism would not end till each and every terrorist is apprehended, the PAT chief urged army chief to take notice of the Punjab government’s all out efforts to restrict PAT from getting justice.
The party leadership decided hold a large demonstration in Faisalabad on March 22 and issued instructions to divisional heads to organise demonstrations to express solidarity with the families of those killed in the Model Town incident and to protest the inhumane attitude of the Punjab Government.
Qadri claimed that he knew from the day one that till Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif’s government is in place, they would never be able to get justice.
