KARACHI:
Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) chief Altaf Hussain declared on Thursday that the Rangers raid at Nine-Zero in Karachi was in reality, ‘an attack’.
“The Rangers didn’t raid my residence but they attacked it,” Altaf Hussain said while referring to the last day paramilitary troops operation at Nine Zero.
The MQM head condemned the Rangers raid at her elder sister’s residence, according to electronic media sources.
Dispelling an impression, Altaf said the wanted criminals were not arrested from building of Khursheed Memorial Hall, adding that they were caught from some other place in the area.
To a question, he said that if anyone from MQM is patronizing the criminals then they will also come to the fore.
“There were certainly a few people who knew about the arrested criminals’ whereabouts,” he admitted.
The MQM supremo said he always demanded the imposition of martial law but with conditions.
Replying to another question, Altaf said that the MQM workers and the coordination committee would have to decide on his successor.
To another query regarding MQM worker’s death warrants, he said that Saulat Mirza is not related to MQM for the past 25 years.
The MQM head also hinted at joining Pakistan People’s Party-led Sindh government.
“Rehman Malik wants MQM to join the Sindh government. I have told the coordination committee that there is no harm in giving them one more chance,” Altaf said. -Samaa
