Villagers protest against ‘police excesses’

Residents of two villages Rawat Khan Banglani and Hootka Banglani on Wednesday protested against ‘undue police raid in which over a dozen villagers were arrested, house commodities were smashed and stolen by police of Kot Ghulam Muhammad police station’.

A large number of residents including woman, children and youth took part in the protest and raised slogans against the police.

They alleged that Station House Officer (SHO) Muhammad Anayat Zardari along a big contingent raided the villages and arrested over a dozen people including Ali Bux, Roshan, Muhammad Khan Banaglani, Hoot Khan Banglani, Muhammad Akram, Ahmed Khan Banglani, Javed and others.

“False cases have been registered against our people, while our children are also tortured by police. The police took away our buffaloes, goats, sheep and hens,” they blamed.

The residents said that police also seized a motorcycle, television set, and some electronic devices were broken, adding the police entered their houses like dacoits. The victims demanded from higher authorities to take action against the SHO and other involved police personnel and provide them protection from ‘police excesses’.
