US official arrested with weapons at airport

An official of the US embassy was arrested from Benazir Bhutto International Airport on Thursday for carrying weapons. However, he was later released.

According to sources, Airport Security Forces (ASF) officials arrested security official of US embassy Patrick Tuna who was on bound to Oman through an international air carrier. The ASF recovered 9mm pistol, bullets and a magazine from his possession.

After written testimonial and confirmation by the US embassy, Tuna was released by Airport Security Force.

ANF FOILS HEROIN SMUGGLING BID:

Separately, Anti Narcotic Force (ANF) foiled a plan to smuggle heroin to overseas country from Benazir Bhutto International Airport on Thursday.

A passenger of Dubai via Islamabad on a private Airline was searched and 25 capsules filled with heroin were recovered from him. The capsules were estimated worth of millions of rupees.
