A bloody dispute over ownership of a piece of land between Mugheri and Buk communities claimed lives of seven persons including an Intelligence Bureau deputy director, and injured seven others in village Pakho within the limits of Pakho police station on Thursday.
The bodies of both sides were shifted to Kambar Hospital for medico-legal formalities while the injured were rushed to Chandka Medical College Hospital for treatment. The victims included 40-year Deedar Mugheri, 20-year Liaquat Mugheri, 28-year Ghulam Murtaza Mugheri, Mukhtiar Buk, deputy director Intelligence Bureau, who was posted at Islamabad, and his driver 44-year Ashiq Buk.
The injured were Nawaz Buk, Munir Mugheri, Jamil Mugheri, Zahoor Mugheri, Razak Mugheri, Shahzor Mugheri, and Zahid Lorar. One man Manzoor Buk was killed in Khairpur Juso allegedly by his rivals when he was travelling in a wagon and another report said that Muhammad Bux Channo, who was passing by the disputed area, was also killed in cross fire. Condition of three injured persons was described very serious by the duty doctors who were shifted to Surgical Unit-I for emergency operations. Both communities alleged that they attacked first.
The dispute started over the ownership of one acre land located in the village in which one person belonging to Buk community was killed few months ago allegedly by their rivals of Mugheri community. Heavy contingents of police and Rangers rushed to the spot to take the situation under control.
Rangers was also deployed there to avoid any untoward incident. The duty doctors were busy in trying to save their lives. IB Deputy Director Mukhtiar Buk as also brought in critical condition to the hospital where doctors took emergency measures to save his life but he died within two hours of his arrival. Both communities duly armed remained confined to their villages. No police officer of Kambar-Shahdadkot district, including SHO Pakho PS Muhammad Juman Saryo, attended the telephone calls of journalists. No FIR could be lodged till filing this report.
New R2�”>� % ( 7 of those arrested during Wednesday’s raid were said to be booked in different cases registered at various police stations across the metropolis.
Preventive detention and joint investigation of these individuals were also being carried out and they would be handed over to the city police, he added.
The Sindh Rangers DG directed his subordinates to ensure that no one may dare to create scare in any form or threaten the investigation officers (IOs) or court authorities, including judges, affecting dispensation of justice in any manner.
The arms recovered from Khursheed Memorial Hall and adjacent areas, along with criminals, were being handed to the police, the press release said.
The recovered arms included: G-3 Rifles (5); SMGs (23); LMG (2); 12 bore Pump Action (22); 7-MM Rifle (19); 8-MM Rifle (4); 223 bore Rifle (2); 22 Rifle (25); 222 Rifle (sniper rifle) (3); M-4 Rifle (sniper) (1); 30 bore Pistol(14); 9- MM Pistol (4); and Rifle Silence (6).
Five telescopes sight, 36 walkie-talkies and two bullet-proof jackets along with ammunition of different calibre and categories were also retrieved during the Wednesday’s raid.
