President Mamnoon in Baku on four-day visit

President Mamnoon Hussain arrived in Azerbaijan’s capital on Wednesday on a four-day official visit. The president was received by Azerbaijan’s First Deputy Prime Minister Yaqub Abdulla Oglu Eyyubov on his arrival at the Baku International Airport.

Pakis­tan’s Ambassador to Azerbaijan Khalid Usman Qaiser and senior officials of the Pakistan Embassy were present on the occasion.

President Hussain is visiting Azerbaijan on the invitation of his Azerbaijani counterpart. The two presidents will inaugurate the Pakistan-Azerbaijan Business Forum, which is aimed at exploring ways to further expand business relations between the two countries.

It has been reported that a joint declaration was issued which pointed at a strategic alliance between the two countries. The two sides agreed to strengthen their ties in security, trade, investment, transport, tourism, education, science and technology. They also agreed to cooperate for human rights.

The need for resolution of issues of Kashmir and Nagorno-Karabakh were also highlighted.

The declaration stated that both sides would extend their cooperation in the field of oil and gas and find out ways to increase cooperation between relevant companies of the two countries.
