A fire on the 5th and 6th floors of the Income Tax Office adjacent to the Sindh Secretariat destroyed numerous records Monday morning.
Contrary to the chief commissioner’s claim, it has been revealed that a large number of documents and records in the designated record room were destroyed by the fire.
Fire reportedly broke out in the canteen attached to the record room located on 5th floor of the multi-storeyed building. The fire was intense and spread quickly, causing significant material loss.
Five fire brigade vehicles reached and the fire was eventually controlled after one hour. No injuries or casualties were registered as staff attendance was thin.
