ECP, Nargis served notices in Magsi’s Senate polls case

The Supreme Court (SC) has issued notice to Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) and Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) candidate Nargis Faiz Malik and sought reply from them today on a petition filed by Rahila Magsi from Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) seeking issuance of notification of her success in Senate polls.

A three-member SC bench presided over by Justice Anwar Zahir Jamali took up Magsi’s petition for hearing Tuesday.

Iftikhar Gillani advocate appeared on behalf of Magsi and told the court that high court had allowed his client to contest the polls but the notification of her success has been withheld. It was done so on the petition from rival party, he contended. It is therefore requested that orders be issued for notifying the success of Magsi from Senate polls, he prayed.

While issuing notices to Nargis Faiz Malik and EC, the court has sought reply from them within 24 hours.
