PESHAWAR:

Two and a half months after Army Public School lost its beloved headmistress Tahira Qazi in a deadly attack, an advertisement in local dailies called out to suitable candidates to apply for the vacant post.

Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) assaulted the school students and staff last year on December 16, killing atleast 150 people including the principal.

Amidst heightened security at the institution, it re-opened on January 12 along with other institutions in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

APS secretary, who asked to be unnamed, said that Section Head Tariq has been acting as interim principal after the brutal murders.

Described as a “polite, decent lady”, Ms. Qazi served at the school for 20 years. She was the daughter of Qazi Hayatullah , a lawyer of Mardan district, better known to many as one of the members of Khudai Khidmatgar or Red Shirt movement of Bacha Khan.
