The Rawalpindi Arts Council in collaboration with the Literary Art & Culture Syndicate arranged a mehfil-e-mushaira in connection with International Women Day on Sunday 2015. Naheed Manzoor presided over the Mushaira. Rehana Waqar was the guest of honour. Bushaira Masroor and Perveen Tahir were the chief guests.
Renowned poet Farheen Ch anchored the mehfil-e-mushaira. Poets from Rawalpindi/Islamabad recited their poetry on women’s issues and paid rich tribute to women. They included Amin Rathor, Bushaira Saeed, Fakhra Noureen, Rukhsana Sehre, Tabasum Ikhlaq, Robina Shad, Rehana Waqar, Samina Saqqiqui, Farhana Ali and Riffat Waheed.
Speaking on the occasion, Naheed Manzoor said that the government has providing equal opportunities to women. She said that it is our national responsibility to protect women’s rights at any cost.
Executive Director Literary Art & Culture Syndicate Farheen Choudhary said that the Rawalpindi Arts Council not only provided a platform to the poets of the region but also gave them the opportunity to express their emotions. She said that the posts representing the women of society helped raise a voice for women’s rights.
