Cabinet reshuffle on cards

Reshuffle in the Federal Cabinet in believed to be on the cards following election of Senate chairman and deputy chairman, local media quoting sources reported Sunday.

According to sources, the government has decided to reshuffle the cabinet to give representation to newly-elected senators.

The cabinet reshuffle is also aimed at adjusting Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) allies in the cabinet as a reward of their support in election on the two coveted offices, sources said. They said MQM, which has eight Senators, might get deputy chairman’s slot if it extended support to the ruling party.

Following Thursday’s elections, PPP has emerged as majority party with 27 senators, followed by PML-N’s 26. Both the major political parties have launched campaigns to woo their allies for top slots in the Parliament’s Upper House.
