At least five criminals were killed in separate incidents of fire exchange with law enforcement agencies personnel in different areas of Karachi. Three culprits were arrested besides recovering arms from their possession.
SSP City Fida Hussain said that on a tip-off regarding presence of criminals, police conducted crackdown in Baghdadi area of Lyari. During operation, the accused taking shelter in the area started firing at police party and tried to flee. In retaliatory action of police, three criminals identified as Abdul Rehman alias Lamba, Subhan alias Grenade and Ali Shan were killed. Police said the accused were wanted by police in more than 30 cases of murders, extortion, kidnapping from ransom and other crimes. Arms including six SMGs, nine MM pistols, Aawan bomb and bomb launcher were also recovered from their possession.
Two other accused were killed in separate encounters with Rangers in Nazimabad No 2 near IndusPlaza in Sohrab Goth areas. Pistols were recovered from the custody of the criminals and bodies of both were shifted to AbbasiShaheedHospital for medico-legal formalities where their identity was yet to be ascertained.
Two criminals including Fawad and his accomplice Nihal were arrested after fire exchange with police in Pirabad locality. Arms, drugs and a snatched motorcycle were recovered from their possession. An accused of street crime was arrested by Eidgah Police during a raid in Chishtia Colony and recovered arms from his possession.
