CDA to launch three mega projects to curb traffic jams

Capital Development Authority (CDA) has decided to launch three mega projects including underpasses and one interchange in federal capital to ensure smooth and steady flow of traffic.

Two underpasses will be constructed on highway track lying between zero point and Faisal Masjid. One underpass will be raised to forge connectivity between Sector G-7 to G-8 as this underpass will link the road coming from Sitara Market to the road leading to G-8 Markaz.

The second underpass will connect sector F-7 to sector F-8 with creating linkage of road coming from F-7 Markaz Jinnah Super with the road going to F-8 Markaz.

PC-1 amounting to Rs 800 million has been approved for completion of these two financially heavy weight projects and technical approval of estimated cost is under progress.

The accomplishment of these two underpasses will lend a new shape to patch of Islamabad high way from zero point to Faisal Masjid making it signal free.

The third project that is poised to kick start is building an interchange over Kashmir Highway in front of garden avenue at the far end of 7th avenue and its design has been worked out by the designers on the model of zero point. It will have four loops.

Another project of construction of underpass on Khayban-e- Suhrwardi is also to go ahead on the track to construction in order to bring the plan of making this chowk signal free to quick materialization. The cost of this project is estimated at Rs 950 million
