The federal government has decided to complete work on two important projects in Rawalpindi, which were the brainchild of former ruler Pervez Musharraf.

The two projects, i.e. the Mother & Child Hospital and the Leh Express Way, were conceived by Musharraf but work on the projects had to be stopped after Musharraf left office.

Sources said that the federal government has tasked the provincial government to initiate work on the Mother & Child Hospital in the coming fiscal year besides offering to extend assistance to complete the Leh Express Way project.

The sources said that the federal government and the provincial government would now jointly shoulder the unfinished work on the Leh Express Way and around Rs. 22 billion have been conceived in the feasibility report to complete the project.

Earlier, the Rawalpindi Development Authority had allocated Rs. 14.74 million for the project, but no work could be initiated.

The project, once completed, will help ease traffic pressure on the Islamabad Express Way and other major roads, which connect the twin cities.

Former MNA Shakil Awan had requested the Punjab chief minister to start work on the two stalled projects, terming them crucial for the Rawalpindi city.

  1. They can only steel, cheat and deceive, but can't reach the dust of Musharraf's feet. Musharraf is Internationally acknowledged strategist and far sighted planner. Whereas they only know how to swindle money and sell the country for personal interest, under the cover of "Democracy" or "Demon Cracy".
