CDA needs to develop markets, says Abdul Rauf

The Capital Development Authority (CDA) should constitute a task force with the specific responsibility to initiate development works in markets on a priority basis as due to lack of development, the conditions of the markets have deteriorated significantly.

This was stressed by former President Islamabad Chamber of Commerce & Industry and Chairman Founder Group Abdul Rauf. He was addressing the business community after inaugurating a restaurant in a local market.

Abdul Rauf said that developmental works in the markets have not been done for a long time due to which the basic infrastructure was in a pathetic state. He called upon the Chairman and Member Administration CDA to pay priority attention to address the issues of the markets.

He said with the efforts of the ICCI, 337 plots were allotted for auto workshops and steel fabricators 15 years ago and successful businesses were running on said plots, however, CDA could not materialise the plan of shifting these workshops out of city yet. He asked concerned market representatives to prepare a list of remaining workshops in order to take up the issue with CDA for redress.

Abdul Rauf said that the CDA was not facing any shortage of funds, but was lacking in good administration. He said Maroof Afzal Chairman and Amir Ali Ahmed Member Admin CDA has the potential and urge to resolve the traders issues and business community was looking for positive measures from them.
