Shehla Raza’s attitude is irritating, PML-f boycotts session

The Pakistan Muslim League-Functional (PML-F) boycotted the Sindh Assembly on Tuesday.

The PML-F members complained that Deputy Speaker Syeda Shehla Raza, who chaired the house, did not allow some of their MPAs to speak on points of order while the government-side MPAs were granted enough time. They boycotted the House against the attitude of the deputy speaker.

Earlier, MQM MPA Heer Soho protested for a minute for the same reason. She wanted to speak on the resolution of Nand Kumar (PML-F), but the deputy speaker did not allow her and put the resolution for voting. Heer Soho stood and protested but mike was closed.

Heer Soho was also irked when her adjourn motion regarding Sindh government’s failure to implement the govt-fixed prices of sugarcane was rejected, and she went out of the house. It was not clear whether or not she staged a walk out, however, later she came back to the House.

It is worth noting that Deputy Speaker Syeda Shehla Raza, who chaired the House, in her opening remarks on Tuesday said that some MPA on previous day talking to media complained against her attitude and said they would contact the Sindh chief minister in this regard. She said the speaker and deputy speaker were not under any chief minister and they work as per rules of the assembly.

She said the members could not challenge the conduct of the chair. During the proceedings, she repeatedly told some opposition members not to dictate her.
