The Sindh High Court Circuit Bench Larkana has directed Education Director Larkana Division Anwar Khokhar to open 500 closed schools of the division and submit a report by April 17 as to why these schools were closed since over a decade despite a number of recent appointments.

Khokhar disclosed before the court during last hearing that 500 schools were closed in Larkana division due to shortage of teachers. The petition was filed by Atta Muhammad Chandio, a resident of Union Council Mirpur, Warah Taluka, through his advocate Rashif Mustafa Solangi.

The petitioner said that 48 schools of Union Council Mirpur were closed including a middle school of village Kurio Sabar Khan due to which education of children was suffering very badly for which the court may be pleased to issue directive to the Larkana division education director to get all the schools opened. The petition was heard by Justices Nadeem Akhtar and Naimatullah Phulpoto.

He pointed out that amount of half million finance was insufficient as the small entrepreneur could not even buy a single income generation vehicle in half a million nor buy any sufficient amount of raw material or machinery.

He said some micro finance banks were inclined to finance the small enterprises up to one million rupees and accommodate the small enterprises which were unfortunately not included in the financing agenda of the commercial banks and not even included in the agenda of the micro finance bank due to their financing need which exceeds half a million rupees.

Advocating the cause of its small members, the UNISAME urged the SBP to comprehend the requirements of the small entrepreneurs and give them access to finance by the micro finance banks by widening their radius.

Over a period of time, the prices of raw material, packing material, machinery and equipment and transport vehicles has increased like other factors of production and it is very important to facilitate the micro and small enterprises according to current values to enable them run their businesses satisfactorily.
