Residents of Lyari staged a protest demonstration Wednesday outside the SindhAssemblyBuilding against the rising extortion money cases and deteriorating law and order situation in their area.
A large number of residents, including traders and children, took part in the protest carrying placards and raising slogans against law enforcement agencies. The protest was led by Lyari’s elderly persons Haji Jaleel, Rehmani Baba and Faisal Baloch. They said no person was safe in Lyari as even women were also being targeted every day. The teenager boy come to their shops and demand high amount of extortion from them, and if any shopkeeper resists, they would show a hand grenade besides issuing threats of dire consequences.
The residents of Lyari appealed to the Rangers Director General (DG), IGP and others higher authorities to take notice of law and order of Lyari and provide them peaceful atmosphere.
