Jobs as well as all basic facilities will be provided to the blind persons, said Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader and National Assembly Memeber (MNA) Hamza Shahbaz Shairf while talking to a representative delegation of visually impaired persons at Model Town office on Wednesday.
Provincial ministers Haroon Sultan Bukhari, Asif Saeed Manhais besides Rana Sanaullah, Saood Majeed, Manshaullah Butt, Saba Sadiq, chief secretary, as well as representatives of visually impaired were present during the meeting.
Hamza said that negotiations with representatives of visually impaired persons have been successful and their genuine demands regarding jobs are being accepted. He said that two committees comprising representatives of the visually impaired persons and government have been set up which will work separately for provision of jobs to the visually impaired persons having education from primary to FA level and higher education. He said that jobs are being provided immediately to the visually impaired persons having education up to FA level in their respective districts while the highly educated visually impaired persons will be provided jobs in different departments and institutions within next two months.
Hamza said he will personally supervise negotiations and implementation of assurances given to the visually impaired persons. He said that steps have been taken for the solution of the problems of the blind throughout the province.
The chief secretary said that the visually impaired persons should contact their commissioners concerned regarding their demands who have been appointed focal persons in this regard.
He further said that the government is making sincere efforts for the solution of the problems of all segments of the society while measures are being taken for providing facilities to the special persons. He directed officers concerned to extend full encouragement to the blind youth securing prominent positions in education and all out resources be utilised for making them useful citizens of the society. After meeting with Hamza Shahbaz Sharif, the representatives of the visually impaired persons announced to call off their protest.
