Former Punjab governor Chaudhry Muhammad Sarwar was on Tuesday nominated as a member of the political committee of the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI), believed to have majority of powers within the party.
According to details, Chaudhry Sarwar was inducted upon the directives of the party chairman, Imran Khan, of which a formal notification has also been issued by PTI Secretary General Jahangir Tareen.
The political committee is charged with scrutinizing any new candidate and approving his induction into party fold. The committee earlier comprised four members – Shah Mahmood Qureshi, Jahangir Tareen, Saifullah Niazi and Amir Kayani.
PTI Chairman Imran Khan has tasked the committee to contact and include locals and foreigners – who bear good reputation – into the party.
