Revolutionary steps are being taken to provide quality health care facilities to the people of Punjab under the Chief Minister’s Healthcare Reforms Roadmap Program, Advisor to Chief Minister on Health Khawaja Salman Rafique while chairing a special meeting to review the progress of implementation on the aforementioned program.
In the meeting, detailed briefing was given on the implementation of the instructions given by Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif regarding different matters and completion of different tasks within the stipulated period under this program. Besides, Parliamentary Secretary Health Khawaja Imran Nazir, Secretary Health Jawad Rafique Malik, DG Health Dr Zahid Pervaiz, Rawalpindi Division Commissioner Zahid Saeed, Rawalpindi DCO Sajid Zafar Dal, Rawalpindi Medical College Principal Prof Dr Muhammad Umer, DCOs of Attock, Jhelum and Chakwal, EDOs Health and medical superintendents attended the meeting.
Rafique further said that the chief minister has approved special attractive incentives package for the doctors and a comprehensive policy has been prepared after detailed discussion with the health experts and health managers while keeping in view the ground realities, geographical situation and the distance of hospitals in the far flung areas. He said that the hurdles have been removed due to which the doctors and specialists were not posted in remote areas in the past.
Punjab Secretary Health Jawad Rafique Malik said that special steps have been taken to fill the vacant posts of MOs/WMOs, posting of specialist doctors in DHQ/THQ hospitals, provision of medicines, repair and maintenance of bio-medical equipment and monitoring of the performance of health institutions. He said that powers have been devolved to the grass root level for the recruitment of doctors, purchase of medicines and early completion of construction works. He said that divisional and district administrative heads are fully authorised to complete these tasks. He further said that health committees have also been constituted at different levels. Rawalpindi Division commissioner, DCOs and EDOs have been asked to utilise their administrative and professional capabilities for achieving the targets and making the program successful, he said.
The meeting also reviewed the arrangements for the prevention and control of dengue, measles and polio in the province.
