Punjab Education Minister Rana Mashhood Ahmad Khan on Saturday admitted that the delay in middle examinations in the province was already expected.
Addressing après conference, Mashhood said that problems with the examinations arose due to extended winter vacations.
Middle examinations were scheduled to start on Friday throughout the province but several examination centres failed to conduct the exam as Version 4 paper was delivered at various centers instead of Version 6.
Despite the criminal negligence by the education department, Rana Mashhood praised education officials, saying that 12,000 examination centres had been established for 2.2 million students and examinations were held in accordance with international standards. He said that the papers were delivered the next day instead of delivering them late, in order to keep secrecy. “We knew that the paper will start with a delay but keeping secrecy was also vital,” he said.
