Lawyers of Islamabad High Court Bar Association (IHCBA) and District Bar Association (DBA) are divided over the filing reference against chief justice Islamabad High Court (IHC) Muhammad Anwar Kansi under article 209 in Judicial Commission despite adoption of joint resolution against him for ignoring lawyers’ organisations in appointment of judges in Islamabad High Court and in the subordinate judiciary.

A cold war has raged between both of the bar associations and in consequence of the differences among them a function of high court bar wherein 85 judges were invited was cancelled a few days earlier.

DBA spokesman Chaudhry Khalid said while talking to media that the reference will be filed after assumption of charge by new administration of both of the bars within a few days.

Sources said some senior lawyers of DBA and IHCBA voiced strong protest against IHC Chief Justice Anwar Kansi for supporting the appointment of Justice Amir Farooq in IHC who belongs to Lahore. The lawyers continued their strike for two weeks.

After consultation with Presidents of both the bar associations including Mohsin Kiani and Zahid Mehmood and other office bearers the lawyer community agreed on filing reference under article 209 of the constitution against chief justice IHC in Judicial Council.
