Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has said that the worst conspiracy in the history of Pakistan was hatched under the garb of sit-ins and the drama of containers continued in Islamabad for four and half months.

However, he said, with the grace of Allah and the prayers of the nation, the attempt to topple the democratically elected government failed badly. He said that announcements were made from containers of ‘Gherao and Jalao’ and to occupy the parliament while graves were also dug out during this drama. He said that sit-ins caused a huge loss to the national economy while the image of the country was tarnished at the diplomatic level. He said that the visit of the Chinese president was postponed and the process of investment was hampered due to these negative activities. He said that the elements staging sit-ins crossed all limits for the achievement of their selfish designs totally disregarding interests of the country. He said that the precious time of the nation was wasted through sit-ins but Pakistan Muslim League-N government will work day and night for the solution of energy crisis, elimination of terrorism and extremism and coping with other issues and no effort will be spared in the service to the masses.

He was addressing a meeting of PML-N’s provincial parliamentary party at the Chief Minister’s Office. The chief minister said that a heinous conspiracy was hatched in the form of sit-ins on August 14, 2014 and its roots were in London where meetings had already been held. He said that the purpose of the conspiracy was to overthrow the elected government of PML-N and to cause damage to the country. He said that billions of rupees were collected for this purpose and it was the worst conspiracy in the history of Pakistan. However, he said, the elements who were trying to undermine the elected government, under the garb of sit-ins, faced disappointment and this conspiracy failed due to the grace of Allah Almighty and the support of the nation.

He said that work is also being carried out for the generation of power from LNG as 1,200 megawatts of electricity can be produced in Punjab through LNG. He said that 1,200 megawatts of power will be generated during next two and half years. He said that simplicity and austerity will be adopted and the funds thus saved will be spent on power generation projects. Shahbaz Sharif said that he will go anywhere to acquire electricity. He said that there is a need to promote team spirit and hard work to set new records for public service in the province. He said that he will make his best efforts for the completion of power projects and elected representatives will have to play an active role in this regard.
