The Senate was informed Friday that 4092 MMCFD raw gas is being produced in the country.
Minister of State for Petroleum and Natural Resources Jam Kamal Khan told the House during question hour that percentage of gas consumed by different sectors during the year 2013-14 was 22 per cent domestic, three per cent commercial, 12 per cent industrial, 27 per cent power, seven per cent CNG, 18 per cent fertilizer and 10 per cent captive power.
He said gas was supplied to different categories of consumers in line with the priority order that was domestic and commercial sectors, power sector, general industries, cement sector and CNG sector.
Minister of State for Water and Power Abid Sher Ali told the House that the original cost of Neelum-Jhelum Hydro Power Project was 80 billion rupees but raised to 280 billion rupees because of delay in the project. He said the cost may cross three hundred billion rupees at the financial close. He said it was the priority of the government to complete the projects on time.
Abid Sher Ali informed the House that it was brought to the notice of ministry of water and power in December 2010 that Syed Jamaat Ali Shah, Ex-Pakistan Commissioner for Indus Waters, allegedly committed some acts of omission and commission amounting to gross negligence, inefficiency and malafide on his part in connection with Nimoo Bazgo Hydro Power Plant by India on the upper reaches of the Indus River.
However, he said an inquiry committee constituted on January 31, 2012, in its report found that Syed Jamaat Ali Shah performed his duties in an appropriate manner and as such no loss to national interest was attributed to him. The chair referred the question to the committee concerned for further discussion.
Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs Shaikh Aftab Ahmad informed the House that 181,743,000 ballot papers were got printed for the use in the conduct of general elections 2013 both for national and provincial assemblies.
